Read, research, use your brain, trust your instincts, and be honest with yourself.
negotiate the contract. not necessarily for money. read the whole thing, carefully. you’d be surprised how many people don’t seem to. make no assumptions, if the wording is not clear, ask for specifics and then have them written in.
